Fall 2012

I have compiled all the major pieces I worked on this past semester at A&M.  While I have dabbled with Photoshop before, this was my first time taking a course primarily focused on digital painting.  The following images are from various projects, but all (except the self portraits) are my attempt to move beyond simple character sketches and practice painting stronger background environments.

These next eight images are the first stage of my thesis project.  Each animal is based on a specific phobia I have researched, and the object of the fear is referenced in both the anatomy of the creature and the environment in which the creature is placed.

Fear of being tied up or bound

Fear of chins

Fear of making decisions

Fear of failure

Fear of happiness

Fear of hair

Fear of hands

Fear of swallowing

This image is a concept piece I designed, based loosely on the "Hanging Monastery" in Datong, Shanxi Province in north China.

I helped work on some matte painting for a group animated short about a little boy sledding in a snowstorm.  The final video hasn't been compiled yet, but the following image will be the background for the last scene.
